  • We advise the SmartLayer Film should be cleaned with a soft, non-abrasive cloth to avoid scratching the protective covering. Any general disinfection agent or window cleaner will be suitable for cleaning and will not damage the polyester surface.

  • Yes, SmartLayer meets the Class A standard as per ASTM E84. Furthermore the whole system is UL Listed. It is the only UL-listed, pluggable switchable opacity film on the market.

  • Yes, we can program multiple switches to operate one space. Each control module comes with one switch. Additional switches can be added at the time of order since they are paired during manufacturing.

  • The off state of the film is opaque, so in a power outage all windows will be opaque to ensure privacy. Due to the nature of the product, this is not something that can be adjusted.

  • No, the area surrounding the damage will continue to operate as normal.

  • Yes, it can be installed on the interior side of an exterior window.

  • SmartLayer operates on a low voltage which consumes <0.5W/ft2 of power.

  • Yes, SmartLayer can be installed on top of any smooth surface without interference.

  • PDLC film is a smart film that uses polymer dispersed liquid crystals to control light transmission. When an electrical current is applied, the liquid crystals align, making the film transparent; when off, they scatter, making the film opaque.
